Certification is important…
Anyone can call him or herself a coach. Before hiring a coach it’s important to find out if she or he has met the requirements necessary for certification.
The International Coach Federation (ICF) is the governing body of the coaching profession. A coach who has been credentialed by ICF has completed stringent education and experience requirements and has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in coaching.

ICF certification means a coach:
- has received professional training from a program specifically designed to teach coaching skills in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies and Code of Ethics
- has demonstrated a proficient understanding and use of the coaching competencies as outlined by the ICF
- is accountable to the ethics and standards set forth by the ICF
ICF certification does not necessarily mean a coach has completed training specific to ADHD coaching. My training was with the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) and JST Coaching for Teens and College Students with ADHD.
